Ego Resilience and its relationship with Social Anxiety On a sample of students of Faculty of Education in Damascus University

Abstract

The research aimed at identifying the level of psychological resilience , and the level of social anxiety ,and identifying the predictability of social anxiety through ego resilience , gender , specialization as well as identifying the relationship between ego resilience (and its sub-components) and social anxiety, and exploring the differences among students in ego resilience and social anxiety according to gender and specialization variables .The sample of this research consisted of (164) students of Education College :(47)males , (117) females. The instruments of the research included ego resilience scale and social anxiety scale . Results showed the following :there were average levels of psychological resilience and social anxiety among the sample of the research ,and the ego resilience (and its sub –components ) contributed to the predictability of social anxiety among the sample of the research . There was a negative statistically significant correlation between ego resilience and social anxiety. There were statistically significant differences in ego resilience  ( and one of its sub-components ( foresight )) according to gender ,and these differences were in favor of females . There were statistically significant differences in ego resilience (and in its sub- components)according to specialization , and these differences were in favor of counseling students. There were no statistically significant differences in social anxiety according to gender significant differences in social anxiety according to specialization, and these differences were in favor of psychology students., and there were statistically .
