School Psychological Stress and its Relationship to Depression among a Sample of Secondary School Students in the City of Homs

The research aimed to identify the level of school psychological stress and the most important school stress among a sample of general secondary school certificate students, and to know the differences in school psychological stress and depression according to the variables of gender and academic specialization. To achieve the research objectives, the descriptive analytical approach was followed, and the sample consisted of (325) certificate students. General secondary school, and the School Psychological Stress Scale prepared by Al-Hamid (2020) and the Beck Depression Scale were used.
The results showed a high degree of school psychological pressures among members of the research sample. The most important school psychological pressures facing the research sample were: home duties, followed by the school environment, then social relationships at school, then exams, then the school curriculum, and finally relationships in the family. The research also found that there were no statistically significant differences in school psychological stress according to the variables of gender and academic specialization, while there were statistically significant differences in depression according to the gender variable in favor of females and the academic specialization variable in favor of scientific students
