Abstract

The goal of the current research is to identify the role of the social counselor in developing the social skills of students with motor hyperactivity disorder accompanied by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, through strategies and activities that contribute to developing the social skills that students with hyperactivity disorder suffer from. Accordingly, the research crystallized.  The current one is by relying on three main axes, the first of which is: researching the extent of the social counselor’s familiarity with scientific medical information related to students with hyperactivity disorder in terms of (the concept, causes, characteristics).  The second is: the role of the social counselor in developing social skills by shedding light   On the strategies and methods used by the social counselor in accordance with the followed guidance plan. The research was applied to social workers affiliated with the Damascus Education Directorate (Mezzeh region), in the basic education schools, which numbered (26 schools), and the number of social workers working on the job reached (55 social workers). As for the categorical variables on which the research was based (years of experience: less than 5 years, 5-10 years, more than 5 years, scientific and educational qualification (university degree, educational qualification diploma),

training courses followed (did not enroll in a training course, enrolled in a course  training).

As for the results that the study showed, according to the variables that were proposed, they were as follows: There are statistically significant differences regarding the role of the social counselor in developing the social skills of students with hyperactivity disorder associated with attention deficit disorder, in favor of holders of an educational rehabilitation diploma, and counselors who enrolled in training courses that refined their skills.  Their information was influenced, and thus the results were in favor of those with less than 5 years of experience. Thus, the total score for the role of the social counselor in developing social skills among students with hyperactivity disorder associated with attention deficit disorder was (2.65), and falls within the average score.
