Attachment Styles and its relationship to Symptoms of Personality Disorders In a sample of Students at the Faculty of Education in Damascus University

This study amied to investigate the relationship between Attachment styles and symptoms of personality disorders among the sample of students at the Faculty of Education in Damascus University. The sample was randomly selected from alL years, consisted of ( 203) of undergraduate students of Psychological Counseling department, femal (148) and male (55). The research yielded the following results: 1-There is a correlation between Attachment Stayles and Symptoms of Personality Disorders among the sample, the results showed a negative correlation between the secure attachment stayle and all personality disorders scales, and positive correlation between the anxious attachment stayle and all personality disorders scales, and positive correlation between the avoidant attachment style and paranoid, avoidant and dependent personality disorders scales, also the results showed no correlation between avoidant attachment style and borderline, antisocial, depressive, obsessive- compulsive, narcissistic and histrionic personality disorders. 2- There are no statistically differences between males and females on all subscales for attachment styles and personality disorders.
