The role of social communication in achieving leadership and crises from the perspective of students of the College of Education

The current research aimed to determine the role of social media in achieving community leadership in crises from the perspective of the students of the College of Education, by determining the degree of social media contribution to community leadership. And to determine the degree of contribution of social media to crisis management, as it aimed to determine the degree of contribution of different types of social media to community initiatives. A questionnaire was designed consisting of 3 axes, each axis included (10) statements. The study sample consisted of (300) male and female students from the Faculty of Education at Damascus University. They were drawn at random. The study concluded that the degree of social media contribution to community leadership is high, amounting to (2.69). Which the researcher attributes to the great impact of social media and its access to a large segment of people, in addition to being an effective means of attracting crises. The degree of social media contribution to crisis management was (2.40), which is a high degree. Which the researcher attributes to the fact that social media is free and available to all people and creates a state of sympathy for crises through voluntary and relief community initiatives. The degree of contribution of the types of social media to community initiatives was (2.36), which is a high degree. The most used and influential means are WhatsApp and Facebook. Which the researcher attributes to the effectiveness of groups on WhatsApp by publishing and sharing voluntary community initiatives. It also found that there were no statistically significant differences between the average students' responses to the questionnaire designed according to the variables of gender and specialization. The researcher suggested: the necessity of directing postgraduate students to conduct research dealing with community organization to study social entrepreneurship. And the need to integrate social entrepreneurship as a course in universities. It also suggested focusing on teaching social entrepreneurship skills to achieve social service. And work on local organizations adopting social entrepreneurship projects. And the need for effective employment of social networking sites in order to effectively market community entrepreneurship projects.
