The Degree Practice Of Teachers First Cycle Of Basic Education To scientific Thinking Skills In Science Education

The aim of the research is to know the degree to which mathematics teachers in secondary education in Damascus governorate practice the skills of scientific thinking in teaching mathematics in their school classes, as well as to know the differences in the degree to which teachers practice these skills according to the variables of academic qualification and number of years of teaching experience, where the research sample consisted of (160). ) A teacher and a female secondary school mathematics teacher were selected in a simple random way from secondary education schools in the governorate of Damascus and a questionnaire was applied to them to practice scientific thinking skills in teaching mathematics prepared by the researcher after verifying its validity and reliability.
The results indicated the following:
1- There is a general weak degree of mathematics teachers in secondary education in the degree of their practice of scientific thinking skills in teaching mathematics. As for the degree to which teachers practice sub-scientific thinking skills in teaching mathematics, it was as follows:
- A high degree for teachers in their practice of scientific thinking skill related to (information gathering).
- An average degree for teachers in their practice of scientific thinking skills related to (focusing - remembering - organizing - analyzing).
- A weak degree for teachers in their practice of scientific thinking skills related to (generation - integration - evaluation)
2- There are no statistically significant differences in the average scores of mathematics teachers in secondary education in the degree to which they practice scientific thinking skills in teaching mathematics according to the educational qualification variable.
3- There are no statistically significant differences in the average scores of mathematics teachers in secondary education in the degree of their practice of scientific thinking skills in teaching mathematics on the areas of the questionnaire according to the variable number of years of teaching experience with the exception of the field of organization.
