Future anxiety and its relationship to the motivation of academic achievement among Syrian students in Lebanese university

Abstract

This study aims to research the issue of future anxiety and its relationship to the motivation for academic achievement among Syrian students at the Lebanese University. The sample is almost equal according to the three educational levels: a first year university with a percentage of 32.9%, a second year of university with a rate of 33.2%, and 33.9% a third year of university, and the researcher used two tools to collect the data to be studied in this research, which are the future anxiety scale, by Dr.Layal Abd al-Salam al-Rifai (2020) and the measure of motivation for academic achievement prepared by the researcher (2018), and the following results were reached:

- High future anxiety among Syrian students at the Lebanese University leads to a decrease in their motivation for academic achievement.

- Male Syrian students at the Lebanese University suffer from future anxiety more than female Syrian students.

- Academic achievement motivation among Syrian female students is more than academic achievement motivation among Syrian male students at the Lebanese.

- Third year students suffer from future anxiety more than first and second year university students.

- Motivation of academic achievement among Syrian students in the first year is higher than that of students in the second and third university years.
