Abstract

The current research aims to examine the correlation between childhood abuse experiences and self-disclosure among a sample of adolescents without parental care in SOS Children's Villages in Damascus. A descriptive analytical approach was adopted, utilizing two scales: the Childhood Abuse Experiences Scale (prepared by Al-Sayed, 2015) and the Self-Disclosure Scale (prepared by Gabriel, 2015). A random sample of 85 adolescents (47 males and:38 females) was selected. The results revealed:

A high prevalence of childhood abuse experiences among the sample

 Low levels of self-disclosure.

A statistically significant inverse correlation between childhood abuse and self-disclosure.

Gender-based differences, with females reporting higher abuse experiences and males exhibiting greater self-disclosure

The study concludes with practical recommendations for psychological interventions targeting this vulnerable group.
