Abstract

The research aimed to identify the effectiveness of using the Frayer model in teaching social studies to develop critical thinking skills. The sample consisted of (84) male and female students. The researcher used the quasi-experimental approach and designed educational lessons from the fifth and sixth units of the social studies book for the fifth grade according to the Frayer model, in addition to testing critical thinking skills. The results showed differences between the scores of the experimental group students in the pre- and post-applications on the critical thinking skills test in favor of the post-application, as well as differences between the scores of the experimental and control groups students in the post-application on the critical thinking skills test, in favor of the experimental group, which means the effectiveness of the Frayer model in teaching social studies to develop critical thinking skills among fifth grade students.
