The degree of possession of the first cycle of basic education teachers of the social and emotional learning competencies

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the degree of possession of the first cycle of basic education teachers in Damascus city of social and emotional learning competencies from the teachers' point of view themselves, as well as to know the differences between the average estimates of the study sample members for the degree of their possession of social and emotional learning competencies according to the variables (gender / years of service), and the original community of the research consisted of teachers of the first cycle of basic education in the official schools of Damascus city, numbering (5642) male and female teachers according to the statistics of the Department of Basic Education in Damascus city for the academic year (2023/2024). The research sample was selected using the random cluster method, at a rate of (5%) of the original community and amounted to (283) male and female teachers, and the scale of social and emotional learning competencies was applied to them, which was prepared by the researcher, consisting of (38) phrases, covering the five axes of the scale, which are: (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship building, and decision-making). The results of the research showed that the degree of possession of the first cycle of basic education teachers in Damascus city of social and emotional learning competencies from their own point of view was average.
