Abstract

The current study aimed to evaluate the degree of availability of quality standards in the physical school environment and propose a standardized image of its quality. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and a questionnaire consisting of (36) items covering three dimensions: components and physical requirements supporting learning, basic classroom components and requirements for learning, non-classroom components and requirements. The sample consisted of (91) principals from elementary schools in the first and second course.

The study concluded the following results:

  • The school principals' assessment of the availability of quality standards in the school environment was generally moderate.
  • There were no statistically significant differences in their assessments' averages based on the variable of work experience in administrative roles.
  • Statistically significant differences were found in their assessments' averages based on the variable of educational cycle in favor of the second cycle.
  • A new image was proposed for the quality standards of the physical school environment. The study recommended a series of suggestions, the most important of which is conducting descriptive studies to evaluate quality standards in other aspects of the school environment.
