Privatization of University Education in the State of Kuwait from the Point of View of Faculty Members at the College of Education at Kuwait University

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the opinions of faculty members at the College of Education in the State of Kuwait on the privatization of university education. The descriptive analytical approach was used. To achieve the study objective, a questionnaire was developed that consisted of the primary data of the sample members, and the questionnaire axes (justifications, caveats, and ways to overcome caveats) within 30 items. The research population consisted of faculty members at the College of Education at Kuwait University who hold a doctorate degree, numbering (123) members. The sample was selected intentionally and its number reached (112) members, thus the sample drawn constitutes (91%) of the original population. The study reached several results, including: the axis of justifications for privatizing university education, the axis of caveats against privatizing university education, and the axis of overcoming caveats facing privatizing university education achieved a high degree, and there were statistically significant differences attributed to the gender variable in favor of males, and statistically significant differences attributed to the variable of years of experience for all study axes except for the justifications for implementing privatization, and statistically significant differences attributed to the variable of academic degree only for the axis of caveats against implementing privatization. The researcher presented several proposals, including: finding solutions to university funding problems such as investing university resources, whether human or material; conducting studies related to the subject of privatization in light of global experiences; and conducting comparative studies with advanced countries in the field of privatization to benefit from their experiences in this field.
