The level of self-concept of the visually impaired (a field study in Homs city- Association for the Care and Rehabilitation of the Blind)

The aim of this study is to study of the levels the self-concept of the visually Impairments Impairment its relationship to variables(sex، Residence، degree disabilities). To achieve the goal of the study، a scale of self-concept for the visually impaired was designed and included (40) items distributed over the domains (physical، personal، educational، family، and social). It was applied to (100) visually impaired. The results of the study indicated: The presence of an average level of self-concept among the study sample members ،There are statically significant differences of self –concept among the members of the study sample accordin to variables study(sex) for male، There are statically significant differences of self–concept among the members of the study sample according to variables study (social state ) for singles، There are no statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample members on the scale self –concept according to a variable (Degree of disability).
The study suggests increasing psychological and social support programs for women with visual disabilities، and providing all administrative and financial facilities for blind women when they undertake self-development
projects.
