Abstract

This research studies the geographical litera ture in Ibn Fadlallah al-Umari's work as well as his geographical writing in Masalik Al Absar which is divided into two sections. The first section, where he talks about  Masalik(earth, the seven climes,the seas, the qibla and the roads , is spanned across two volumes while the second section, in which he discusses Al-Mamalik(the kingdoms), is spanned across the th ird and fourth volumes.

The research studies the geographical texts written using literary style. It also examines the art of rhetoric and schemes and explains how al-Umari's managed to keep his writings informative and enjoyable utilizing elevated language. This style made him deserving of his title as a scientist and a writer.
