Abstract

Abstract:

Translucent zirconia has brought the advantages such as less tooth preparation, biological compatibility, high strength, good mechanical properties, and less antagonist wear. This study’s aim was to elucidate how clinically relevant surface treatments; alumina-abrasion and priming effect on bond strength of Y-PSZ in three different translucency grades after long-term water storage.

Methods and materials: 30 highly translucent  zirconia blocks were devided into 3 groups. Group1: sandblasted using 110 μm Al2O3 particles, 10mm, 10s, 2.5 bar (A). Group 2: sandblasted 110 μm Al2O3 particles 10mm,20s,6bar(C). Group 3: sandblasted with CoJet sand (30 μm Al2O3 coated with SiO2 )(B) . The specimens were subjected to Surface roughness (Ra, μm) was assessed after surface treatment by TR200 surface roughness tester.Data were collected and recorded on Excel from Microsoft. Then the statistics were performed using SPSS v.26 (IBM, USA) with a significance level of 0.05.Use the Shapiro-Wilk test to determine the nature of the surface roughness and shear strength data distribution. Consent is used.One-Way ANOVA with Tuckey's Two Comparisons Analysis to study the effect of sanding type on both surface roughness and shear strength resistance.

            Results:
Values given are mean ± standard deviation unless otherwise noted. The surface roughness increased from group 1.2 ± 0.4 μm to group A 1.2 ± 0.5 μm to group C 1.8 ± 0.6 μm, and there was a statistically significant difference between the groups (p = 0.009). Binary comparisons showed that the surface roughness in group C was significantly greater than that in both group A by 0.6 μm (p = 0.021) and group B by 0.7 μm (p = 0.017), while there was no statistically significant difference between group A and group b (p = 0.996).

Conclusion: 1. The increase in applied pressure during sandblasting significantly enhanced the surface roughness with a statistically significant difference.2. There was statistically significant difference between the types of sandblasting applied to the sample groups.
