Abstract

Introduction: Pulpotomy is the most common treatment used for the carious primary molars on children, to keep these teeth functional in the mouth until its normal fall out time.

Aim of the study: The aim of this study was to compare the clinical and radiological success of Pulpotomy in primary teeth with Turmeric and MTA.

Materials and methods:40 primary molars were selected from children aged (6-8 years), the teeth were divided randomly into two groups (20 primary molars treated using Turmeric pulpotomy -20 primary molars treated using MTA pulpotomy). a routine pulpotomy was done with rubber dam, MTA, or Turmeric were applied after bleeding control, then IRM and GIC were placed, and finally, a stainless steel crown was placed. Children were observed at baseline, 3,6, and 12 months. Results: The results revealed that the clinical and radiographic success rate in the Turmeric group was 85%,80% while it was 95% in the MTA group after 12 months without a statistically significant difference. Conclusion: The Turmeric has achieved clinical and radiographic success comparable to the clinical and radiographic success rates of the MTA, with the latter superior to pulpotomy on primary molars.
