The role of septocolumellar suture in open primary rhinoplasty

Abstract

Introduction: Tip plasty consists of  many different sutures especially in open rhinoplasy.on of them is septocolumellar suture which is believed to have a main role in both projection and positioning of the Tip .This study will investigate the technical  and clinical experience of using this suture in open rhinoplasty operations in Almowassat University Hospital.      

Methods and materials:  22 female patients were involved in this study,between 2019_2020,.All the participants compliant of having an acute nasolabial angel. they had an open rhinoplasty operation.In addition to normal approach, which contains dealing with dorsal hump and tip plasty,we performed an additional suture between columella and caudal part of septum in order to get the appropriate position and projection of the Tip.   

Results: the use of septocolumellar suture showed an effective results in all cases during the follow up period which lasts between 6 month and one year.     

Conclusion: The cosmetic results that caused by using septocolumellar suture in both the position and projection of the Tip may make it necessity in Tip plasty approach especially that we can predict the result during the operation with permanent form.
