The Use of Local Anesthesia Techniques Among The Dentists -Study in Damascus City-

Abstract

Aims of study: The aim of this study was to identify which local Anesthesia block and infiltration techniques  were used among the Dentists in Damascus city, and to Know if there is a influence of specialize in OMFS in the results.

Materials and Methods: The participants were 219 dentists, 53.42% (OMFS), The questionnaire was two choices (Yes / No) about the local Anesthesia techniques were the participants used in their Practice, The data were analyzed in SPSS software by using Chi-square test and Fisher Exact test.

Results:  90% of dentists were used the Paraperiosteal infiltration injection, and 88.1% of dentists were used the direct method of the Inferior alveolar nerve block (P>0.05). 16.9% of dentists were used the Gow-Gates technique, and 13.7% of dentists were used the Varziran-Akinosi technique.

Conclusion: The most commonly used of local Anesthesia techniques was Paraperiosteal infiltration injection. followed by the direct method of the Inferior alveolar nerve block. the minority commonly used was Gow-Gates and Varziran-Akinosi technique.
