Abstract

The discovery of new technological techniques has led to the evolution of the humans intellect and aesthetic insight which they employed in their visual product that has been infected with this evolution, consequently affecting the traditional methods adopted in the artistic products. Scientific, technological, and philosophical changes have been observed in the artistic domain. A lot of artists have reacted to these changes related to the aesthetic and conceptual dimensions, conferring, as such, new various artistic styles upon the expressive environment during the era between modernism and postmodernism periods. Therefore, artwork has become equipped with modern visions and dimensions materialized through the innovative experiences held by artists using different raw materials. In effect, a new lexicon of artistic vocabulary has formed, divergent from the art quo ante, to contain the conceptual, theoretical, and methodological dimensions that has become the core interest of the artists, owing to its explanation of the artistic effects in a creative way, in addition to examining the artistic discourse of the means of expression to deepen the connotations that the artwork carries, and from which content emerged the video that was used as an expressive medium in many artistic trends in the postmodern period. Indeed, the artwork has evolved into visual, dynamic, and audio display. Hence, the artist linked the space and time together in the display, forming a new spacetime based on the unity of the idea and its constructive and technical treatments. Such treatments consist in excitement, surprise, and strangeness for the recipient, through a set of expressive artistic elements and means with aesthetic psychological connotations. This has been called (video art), and its qualities and characteristics are distinguished from other forms of visual arts by their association with the expressive and symbolic conceptual dimensions in their visual content.

The visual content of video art is a reflection of physical reality and of imagination, through contemporary artistic techniques that merge to form visual unity which contains all forms of arts. Video art expresses the taste of the contemporary recipients, and it addresses them in a way that differs from other forms of arts, through the expressive animated image. In other words, it integrates and encompasses the forms of arts, but it does not substitute them.
