Abstract

In any artistic work there is a relationship between objectivity and subjectivity, especially in the art of medal, which is the objective aspect (functional aspect) of the most important reasons for the existence of this art.In the old coins, the pregnant medium was the one who transported the portraiture to the surface of the medal. This was caused by what this coin led from the functional side before the appearance of the medal art, and how this functional aspect was handed over to the medal art. From here the competition and the prevalence in the art of the medal arose between the objective tendency with the functional role it carries and the artist's own tendency in the specificity of his artistic style and his own vision in this work (the medal), and this research deals with this competition from the early beginnings of medal art and through the stages of development The historical and how this was reflected in the artistic transformation in the art of medal, through the relationship between objectivity and subjectivity in the art of personal medal (portraiture).
