Marital Compatibility And Its Relationship To Decision-Making Among a Sample Of Kuwaiti Wives

Abstract

The present study aims to discover the relationship between decision-making and marital compatibility among wives. The study was conducted on 94 female Kuwaiti wives; their ages ranged from 24: 68 years, with an average age of 39.19 years and a deviation of 8.61 years and the level of education among them differentiated between the intermediate and higher qualifications, the average of children number in the sample was 3.12 and the deviation was 1.01. The average number of years of marriage was 14.99 with a standard deviation of 8.22.  The decision-making scale (by Farouk, 2008), the marital compatibility measure (Shaima Ali, 2016) and the case study data form were applied to the sample, and the psychometric efficiency of the instruments was taken into account.      The most important findings are as follows:

(1) There is a significant correlation between the marital compatibility and decision-making among wives.

(2) There are differences between high and low marital compatible wives in decision-making.

(3) Marital compatibility and decision-making vary according to the demographic variables (academic qualification, number of years of marriage, age).

 (4) The marital compatibility perspectives contribute to predicting capability of taking decisions among wives. The results were discussed in light of the theoretical and applied implications of the study findings and their consistency with the previous studies in this field.
