Abstract

This research aims to know the extent of daydreaming prevalence among Sample of adolescents in Damascus high schools; their number (400) male and female adolescents. The Daydream Scale was used to answer the research questions and hypotheses; a set of results were reached, most notably:

 The level of daydreams among the research sample members was high, in addition to that, daydreams with positive content were the most prevalent, and there were no differences between the members of the research sample on the scale of daydreams according to the gender variable,

While the differences were indicative on the scale of daydreams according to the birth order variable, and the differences were in favor of the first son on the total score of the scale and its sub-dimensions, except for the daydreaming dimension with negative content, in which the differences were in favor of the second child.

 It was also found that there were differences on the Daydreaming Scale depending on the academic achievement level variable, and the differences were in favor of the research sample members with low achievement level on the total degree of the Daydreaming Scale and its sub-dimensions, except for the Daydreaming dimension with positive content, The differences in it were in favor of the research sample individuals with outstanding achievement level. In addition to the fact that the level of academic achievement is the biggest influence on the level of daydreaming.
