The current study aimed to know the status quo of using the educational Moodle system at the National Center for the distinguished in the Syrian Arab Republic from the point of view of both students and teachers, in terms of the extent of using it by teachers, and the level of their experience at using it, in addition to the importance of its use by students and their attitudes towards using this electronic system, according to the variables of gender and having the computer skills.
The sample of the study consisted of (129) students and (9) teachers. Two questionnaires were designed. The first one was to know the importance of using the educational Moodle system, the second to measure their trends towards this electronic system. In addition, interviews in-depth were done with teachers which contributed to the interpretation of the results.
The results showed that more than half of teachers at the center (57.3%) used the Moodle at a weak degree in their classes, and most subjects taught using Moodle platform are biology and mathematics, and (51.2%) of them had a weak experience at its use because most teachers didn't follow sufficient training sessions during their academic education years, or even during their job at center, for that reason slightly more than the half of the students (50.5%) don't find any importance of using it in classroom, and (57.9%) of them don't have positive attitudes towards its use.
The results also showed that there were statistical significant differences among the mean scores of the students concerning the importance of using Moodle at the Center due to the variable of gender and having the computer skills, and there were no statistical significant differences among the mean scores of students concerning their attitudes towards using the system according to their gender, while there were statistical significant differences among the mean scores of the students concerning their attitudes towards it use due to the variable of having computer skills.
