Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the teaching performance of students of Educational Qualification Diploma, Arabic Language specialization, at Faculty of Education. It also aims to present a proposed conception for developing the educational qualification diploma program in the Faculties of Education.

For achieving the objectives of the study, the researcher designed an observation card of teaching competencies of Arabic teachers at the pre-service stage. It included (72) teaching competencies, classified into (5) main domains as follows: mastery of the subject matter, planning for teaching, organizing and managing the learning and teaching environment, evaluating and follow up academic achievement, and developing professional performance. The observation card was applied to a sample of students who were teachers of the Arabic language. Their number was (27) students chosen randomly.

The results showed that the level of teaching performance of Arabic language teachers (research sample) in the standards of teaching performance was varied, as the mean score was (1.83) in the field of (mastery of the subject), which indicates an average level. In the field of planning for teaching, the mean score was (1.44), which indicates a poor level of performance. While in the field of (organizing and managing the learning and teaching environment), the mean score was (1.94) which indicates an average level of performance.

 

 However, in the field of (evaluation and follow-up of academic achievement), the mean score was (1.07) which indicates an average level of performance. Finally, in the field of developing professional performance, the mean score was (1.55) which indicates a poor level of performance.

In light of these results and the study of some models of training program design, the researcher put forward a suggested perception for developing the Diploma program for Educational Qualification in the Faculties of Education.
