Abstract

 The current research aims to determine the degree to which teachers employ reading comprehension skills in the basic education stage. And determining the differences in the degree to which teachers employ reading comprehension skills according to the variables of gender, academic qualification and number of years of experience. The study sample amounted to (110) male and female teachers working in basic education schools in Damascus countryside, and a questionnaire was applied to determine the degree of teachers’ employment of reading comprehension skills after the psychometric characteristics were calculated. The results indicated that teachers employ reading comprehension skills to a high degree, and the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the degree of teachers’ employment of reading comprehension skills according to the gender variable. While the results of the research confirmed the existence of differences according to the variable of the scientific certificate in favor of the class teacher certificate holders. And there are statistically significant differences according to the variable number of years of
