Emotional security and its relationship to family cohesion among a sample of married couples in different countries

The aim of the research was to identify the relationship between emotional security and family cohesion, using the descriptive approach. The emotional security scale prepared by Shakir (2005) and the family cohesion scale prepared by Priest et al. (2022) were used. The research sample consisted of (100) husbands and wives who were randomly selected. (56) wives and (44) husbands from Damascus. The research results showed that the level of emotional security among the research sample members was average, and that the level of family cohesion among the research sample members was average. There was a correlation between emotional security and family cohesion, there were no statistically significant differences between the average performance of the research sample members on the emotional security scale according to the gender variable, there were no statistically significant differences between the average performance of the research sample members on the family cohesion scale according to the gender variable. There are statistically significant differences on the emotional security scale according to the variable of marriage duration in favor of married couples with a marriage duration of more than 10 years and less than 15 years. There are statistically significant differences between the average performance of the research sample members on the family cohesion scale according to the variable of marriage duration in favor of married couples with a marriage duration of more than 10 years and less than 15 years.
