Abstract

The research aimed to identify the relationship between postpartum depression and social support, and the sample consisted of (36) mothers. To achieve the goal of the research, the descriptive analytical method was used, and the researcher designed measures of postpartum depression and social support after being judged, and calculating the degrees of validity and reliability for each scale.

The results showed that the level of postpartum depression among the postpartum mothers was average, as was the level of social support, and the results showed that the higher the degree of social support provided to the mother in the postpartum period, the lower the level of postpartum depression, and the results showed that there are significant differences Statistical between the average scores of the giving birth on the degree of postpartum depression according to the gender of the newborn in favor of the mothers who gave birth to a female baby, in favor of the mothers who lived in the city, and in favor of mothers aged 18 years and under, and there were no statistically significant differences between the average degrees of the giving birth About the degree of postpartum depression according to the variable of the educational level of the mother. There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the placement mothers on the social support scale according to the housing variable and in favor of the mothers who lived in the countryside.
