Marital Skills and their relationship to Emotional Divorceamong a Sample of Married Workers at Latakia University

The aim of the research is to identify the relationship between the dimensions of marital skills and emotional divorce, and to identify the differences between the averages on the marital skills and emotional divorce according to the variables of gender and number of years of marriage. The research also aims to identify the most commonly used marital skills, and the degree to which the sample members possess these marital skills and to identify their level of emotional divorce. To achieve the objectives of the research, the marital skills scales prepared by (Awwadah.2019) and the emotional divorce scale prepared by (Al-Khawaldeh and Qatawneh,2022) were used. It was applied to a simple random sample of (200) married workers at Latakia University. The psychometric properties of the marital skills scale were also calculated, as the value of the reliability coefficient using the Cronbach alpha method reached (0.80), and the emotional divorce scale reached (0.75) using the Cronbach alpha method.
The results showed that there is a statistically inverse relationship between the dimension of marital skills and emotional divorce. there are no statistically significant differences according to the variables of gender and years of marriage on the dimensions of the marital skills scale and the emotional divorce scale. It was also found that the most used marital skills among the sample members were, in order, (emotional expression, dialogue and speaking, understanding, listening, and then problem solving). Their degree of possession of marital skills was high. while the level of emotional divorce was low among the sample members.
