Evaluating the role of the national education curriculum in developing citizenship values From the point of view of secondary school students

Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the attitudes of eleventh grade secondary school students towards the role of the national education curriculum in developing citizenship values. The results of the research showed that the arithmetic averages of the students’ answers to the values and attitudes dimension in the questionnaire ranged between (4.183), the upper limit for the phrase (developing the principle of freedom of expression of opinion). and a culture of positive dialogue. (4.050) is the minimum for the phrase (carrying out my duties in a national direction), and the value of the arithmetic average for the values and attitudes axis in general was (49.243). The results also showed that the arithmetic averages for the students’ answers on the knowledge dimension ranged between (3.946) and the maximum for the phrase (acquiring concepts new social economic policy(3.779(

A minimum statement (know the common Arab and human ties). The arithmetic average value for the knowledge axis in general was (46.179), and as for the skills dimension, the arithmetic averages for the students’ answers ranged between (4.182), the upper limit for the phrase (acquiring decision-making skill); (3.770) minimum for the phrase (evaluation of information sources), and the arithmetic mean value for the knowledge axis in general was) .47.619(It was noted that the number of individuals in the research sample who had a low level in the total score of the questionnaire was (294), a medium level in the total score of the questionnaire (1155), and a high level in the total score of the questionnaire(226

The results of the research did not show a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the students in answering the questionnaire about the role of the national education course in developing citizenship values due to the gender variable (males - females).

 

It was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the students in the two dimensions (values and attitudes, Skills) are attributed to the specialization variable (literary-scientific), and this difference is in favor of literary specialization in the (values and attitudes) dimension.

In favor of the scientific branch in the (skills) dimension, while it was noted that there were no differences between the members of the study sample in the (knowledge) dimension and the total score of the questionnaire, and there was no statistically significant difference between the average scores of the students in answering the questionnaire about the role of the national education course in developing citizenship values. In the two dimensions (values and attitudes, skills, and the total score of the questionnaire), while it was observed that there was a significant difference among the members of the research sample in the dimension in favor of the governorate (city).
