Abstract

The aim of the current research is to measure the degree of possession of jurisprudential concepts included in the Islamic education textbook by fifth-grade students in basic education schools in Quneitra Governorate, and to identify statistical differences in their answers according to the variables of gender (males, females) and geographical location (rural, city). To achieve the research objectives, a descriptive research approach was used, and a written test for jurisprudential concepts was prepared after analyzing the study units for the first semester of the Islamic religious education curriculum for the year (2023-2024). It was applied to a sample of fifth grade students in basic education schools in Quneitra Governorate. (213) male and female students. After analyzing the data, the results showed that there was a low degree of possession of jurisprudential concepts by the fifth grade students on the total score of the test, and on the following jurisprudential concepts (Hajj, zakat, building the earth, faith, honoring man), while the degree was average with regard to the students’ possession of the following jurisprudential concepts: (Prayer, fasting, Muslim morals), in addition to the absence of statistically significant differences between the averages of students’ answers according to the variables of gender (males, females) and geographical location (rural, city). Accordingly, the research recommended the necessity of enriching Islamic education curricula with a group of scientific activities that stimulate research, investigation and discovery, and the use of problem-solving methods and linking them to their daily lives, to provide students with the greatest opportunity to acquire correct jurisprudential concepts in the required manner, and to encourage classroom teachers to use interactive methods and hone their abilities.
