Abstract

The aim of the research is to identify the degree of availability of the habits of mind among the fifth and sixth graders in As-Suwayda Governorate, As well as knowing the differences in the degree of availability of mind habits among the students in the research sample according to the variables (educational class, gender, and place of residence), To achieve this goal, the researcher adopted the descriptive approach, The research sample consisted of (755) male and female students, The Habits of Mind availability scale (prepared by the researcher) was applied to them after verifying its validity and stability. Six mental habits were selected, and the results indicated the following::

  1. The following habits of mind are available: (listening with understanding and empathy, Managing Impulsivity, striving for accuracy) in a weak degree, while the habits of mind (Thinking Interdependently, questioning and posing problems, Respond with amazement and wonder) are available to moderate degree.
  2. There are no statistically significant differences between the average scores of the students' answers on the items of the degree of availability of mind scale according to the gender variable and the educational class variable.

3- There is statistically significant difference between the average scores of the students' answers to the items of the degree scale of the availability of habits of mind according to the place of residence (rural/city), in favor of the city students.
