Abstract

The research aimed to identify the attitudes of faculty members at Damascus University towards the challenges of artificial intelligence applications and the ethics of its use in the field of scientific research. The research followed the descriptive analytical approach, and included a sample of (120) faculty members at the Faculty of Education at Damascus University. The attitudes questionnaire was used to reveal the attitudes of faculty members towards the challenges of artificial intelligence applications and the ethics of its use in scientific research, which consisted of (54) items distributed over five axes prepared by the researcher.

The results showed that the degree of faculty members’ attitudes towards the challenges of artificial intelligence applications and the ethics of its use was average for all axes and the questionnaire as a whole.

The results also indicated no differences between faculty members' attitudes toward the challenges of AI applications and the ethics of its use in scientific research, based on the variables of academic rank and years of experience. In light of the results, a set of proposals was developed.
