Abstract

We can consider the thematic method of the Quran, which has its own characteristics, as one of the most important fruits of the modern renewed Islamic reason in his approach to the holy Quran, the most concrete religious and civilized authority for all Muslims in order to face the historical and intellectual changes in which they live in modern age. But it seems that the novelty of the studies concerning to this method and their varieties in terms of their depth and methodology have produced some semantic bewilderment about the key concepts used in it. And this matter casts negative effect on the process of this important method and prevents it from developing and rooting. Hence this paper tried, using a  critical, comparative and  descriptive methodology  to present a new scientific exact definition to the concept of "thematic interpretation", and to explore the most important concepts pertinent to it ( as: the interpretation science, the scientific method, the interpretation method), finally to deal with the scientific matters related to it (as: the historical and intellectual context, the factors enabling it to appear, its major markers , the difference between it and the atomic/analytical approach to the Quran, its main kinds, the need for it, and the necessary scientific qualifications for its researchers). All these conditions, as a whole body, constitute integral conceptual systematic picture which would precisely contribute in enriching it, and pushing toward exploiting it in a great scientific effective manner which helps it to achieve its wanted objectives and goals.
