Abstract

 

The issue of witness protection in international criminal cases is one of the relatively new topics, in the way that talk about it is related to the development of the concept of international crime, and since the testimony of the perpetrators of these serious crimes has an important role in confronting and curtailing them through the assistance of criminal justice agencies in proving and convicting the perpetrators, and given the Because of the seriousness of the perpetrators of these crimes, and the intimidation and threats that witnesses may be subjected to, which may amount to revenge, murder and abuse of the witness in order to discourage him from giving his testimony in all honesty and integrity, it has become necessary to work to provide the necessary legal protection for these persons, to urge them and encourage them to cooperate with the justice agencies. criminal offenses in a way that contributes to curbing the spread of these crimes.

From this point of view, the issue of international criminal protection for witnesses has received great attention at all levels and levels, and many international and regional conventions have been concluded, which have taken the protection of witnesses and their families as the first of its contents.
