The Role of Modern Technologies in Libraries from the Viewpoint of Students at the Library and Information Department

Abstract

This study deals with the role of modern technologies in libraries from the point of view of students at the Department of Library and Information. The study aims at highlighting the opinion of students of the Department of Library and Information and their evaluation of these technologies. It also aims at identifying  the techniques most used, and showing their implications for libraries in their various sectors. The study presented eleven modern technologies after dividing them into two sections: techniques that require limited equipment, and techniques that require expensive equipment. The study intends to clarifyi the impact of technologies in libraries through a questionnaire directed to students of the Library and Information Department. The questionnaire shows that  68.9 percent % used these technologies, where QR Code technology received the largest percentage of use. Hologram technology was not used. The study suggests investing modern technologies in libraries to contribute to enhancing their services and increasing the the beneficiaries’ satisfaction .
