Abstract

The study aimed to introducing creative thinking and its characteristics among academic students and the most important skills that must be possessed for its development. The researcher studied the creative thinking skills of students of department of libraries and information at Tishreen University. In his study on the descriptive analytical method using the Torrance Scale tool to measure the creative thinking about academic students.

The researcher reached severalimportant results, the most important of which is the lack of creative thinking among the students of the library and information department at Tishreen University. In addition to the absence of statistically significant differences for the sex of the respondents (females - males) for their creative thinking skills, and the presence of statistically significant differences for the study level year.

The researcher suggested the necessity of developing the creative thinking skills of students of libraries and information department through activating self-learning and developing the courses.
