Abstract

This research studies one of the middle Babylonian literary texts that are called prayer, hymn, and invocation literature. The text is about a prayer of one of the watchers begging gods Šamaš and Adad wishing from them to dismiss any attack that would happen in his shift which is continuing for 30 days as he mentioned. The aim of this research is to introduce this kind of literature, then to translate it into Arabic, an accurate translation from its original language   (Babylonian) since both languages are deprived of one origin and share a lot of vocal, grammatical and morpholgical features. In addition to this, the research studies and analyzes these literary forms in comparison with Arabic and other Semitic languages that shared with Babylonian some linguistic items.
