The Searching Method for Information in Database of Graduated Students in the Department of Library and Information at Damascus University

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the searching method for information in database of graduated students in the Department of Library and Information at Damascus University by identifying the tools that they use when searching, and motivation to search for information, and difficulties that lead to failure to meet their information needs.

The researcher used the field approach by using the questionnaire, distributed to 42 students of Information in Database of Graduated Students in the Department of Library and Information at Damascus University.

This study found low use of databases, and the weakness of the internet in Syria. The researcher suggested that it is necessary to increase the number of subscriptions in the specialized database in the field of library and information and facilitating that with other Arab and foreign universities to enable students see the developments in the field of specialization.
