The aim of the research was to study the attitudes of university youth towards external migration. To achieve this goal, the descriptive analytical approach was used, the social survey method by sample, and a sample was drawn using a simple random method from students of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Damascus University. The research used a scale of students’ attitudes towards external migration, which was prepared by the researcher. After collecting the data from the students, it was analyzed using the SPSS program to reach a set of results, the most important of which were: that the level of students’ attitudes towards external migration was high. The most important influencing factors were the economic factors that the country is going through in general, followed by psychological factors represented by anxiety about an unknown future, and social factors, especially the results of the war on the social level. As for the differences between the averages of students’
answers towards the tendency to migrate according to the variables of gender and age, they were in favor of males, and in favor of the age group 19-23 years. No differences were found for the variables of the academic year and family income. At the end of the research, a set of proposals were presented that may contribute to reducing the youth’s aspiration towards migration and staying in their homeland, which is considered more deserving of them as a large human capital, and a wheel of its development and renaissance.
