Positive self-esteem and its relationship to the level of academic resilience among a sample of preparatory year students at Damascus University

The research aimed to identify the level of positive self-feeling among a sample of preparatory year students at Damascus University, and their level of academic resilience; and to measure the relationship between positive self-feeling and academic resilience and to detect differences according to the variable: (gender). The research sample consisted of (315) male and female students from the preparatory year students at Damascus University, and the scale of positive self-feelings and the scale of academic resilience were applied to them. The research relied on the descriptive analytical approach. To verify the research hypotheses, the arithmetic means and standard deviation were calculated and the (t-test) was used to indicate the significance of the
differences. The research concluded with the following results: The level of positive self-feelings among the research sample members of the preparatory year students at Damascus University was average, and their level of academic resilience was high. There is a positive and statistically significant correlation between positive self-feelings and academic resilience among the research sample members. There are no statistically significant differences in positive self-feelings and the scale of academic resilience according to the gender variable. The most important research proposals are as follows: Encouraging students to set their goals, helping them achieve their academic goals, and guiding them on the right path in the future.
