Abstract

The research deals with the trends of Hebrew textbooks for the Arab students at the primary level through studying social and linguistic books. This is conducted through a first sample chosen from a geography educational series written in Hebrew and a second multi-part sample of a language instruction series for Arab primary school students in the occupied Palestine. These samples represent two new trends for teaching

Hebrew. The third sample is a comparative study between topics and methods of an old series that was modified according to modern models prepared for non-Arabic speakers and others, with the language series of the second sample. The research shows the mechanism of change that took place in these books, from a direct textual cultural presentation to a general cultural discourse with very special references. The research presents the ideological objectives of the mentioned series, and shows the mechanisms of authorship and Judaization adopted by marginalizing the cultural, social, historical and religious role of the Arabs and replacing them with entirely Zionist thought, inside boundaries of the alleged entity.
