Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the types of news materials used to cover the American presidential elections in 2024 in private Arab newspapers represented by the Syrian and Egyptian newspaper, the Egyptian today, and the most prominent trends, sources of their information and the illustrative means used. The study relied on the survey curriculum and the content analysis tool through the comprehensive limitation method of news materials that dealt with the elections from 5-8-2024 to 5-11-2024

The study concluded that the journalistic report genre was dominant in Al-Watan newspaper compared to the journalistic news genre in Al-Masry Al-

Youm. The conflict frame was dominant in the study sample, accounting for 63.3% of the total in Al-Watan newspaper and 57.1% in Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, with both newspapers agreeing on a neutral approach in news coverage. Al-Watan's interest in using illustrative media declined, with the "none" option ranking first at 56.7%, while the personal photos of the candidates (Trump and Harris) dominated Al-Masry Al-Youm at 67.9%.

The study recommended diversifying news arts in news coverage of the US presidential elections, paying attention to various types of news frames and not limiting them to the conflict frame. It also emphasized the importance of prioritizing own sources in coverage.
