Abstract

The research aims to focus light on some of the tools, equipment and artifacts used in religious rituals carried out in Christian churches, and to conduct a comparative study to determine the basic origins in terms of form and content based on archaeological data so that samples that were found in different regions on the Syrian land and preserved in its museums are analyzed and studied. According to a major methodology based on the study of relics in terms of their basic form and development

The research highlights several stages since the emergence of worship, the spread of Christianity, the emergence of the church and the associated buildings and tools that help to establish its rituals, and the extent of the development of these tools over the ages, depending on the museums’ holdings of archaeological finds, sculptures, icons, mosaics, etc., in addition to the field efforts of some excavation sites. Archaeological and museums that provide evidence for the hypotheses that can be developed.

Three main axes were addressed, beginning with a review of the emergence of Christian worship, and the associated concepts and meanings, in addition to addressing the heart of worship and the nature of some religious symbols used in the Christian religion, leading to the logistical tools needed to perform religious rituals, studying some relics and providing information about them after Studying and analyzing them and defining their functions, with reference to their symbolism and knowledge of the connotation with them
