Abstract

The personality of Abu Abdullah Al-Baridi is a controversial figure in the history of the Abbasid Caliphate in Iraq. The nature of his ambitious personality helped him to appear on the scene of historical events in Iraq and its south in the first quarter of the fourth century AH / tenth century AD. Abu Abdullah Al-Baridi took advantage of the weakness and deterioration of the economic and political conditions.  So he began with the job of writing, then took over the work of security, and became professional in it until he caught the attention of the Caliphs and the ministers, who relied on him in collecting money and confiscations, and the guarantee of Abu Abdullah expanded a significant geographical area, until he controlled Ahwaz, Basra and Wasit at the same time, and he was a pioneer in the field of  The guarantee, and this business increased him with influence, money and power, as his notables and soldiers increased, and then he entered the arena of political life, and he began crowding out the caliphate’s armies for power in Baghdad, and he tried more than once to control Baghdad, until he seized it, and took over the ministry more than once, but  Things were not described to him, as he was working under the umbrella of the Abbasid Caliphate sometimes, and sometimes against them, and sometimes he resorted to the forces hostile to the Abbasid Caliphate in order to reach his separatist goals.

On the other hand, the Abbasid caliphate did not stand idly by towards al-Baridi, as it resorted to the Hamdan family against al-Baridi, who did not hesitate to provide assistance, expelled him from Baghdad, and pursued him.
