The agricultural and economical activity in the southern part of the limestone massif during the Roman and Byzantine periods from archaeological surveys perspectiveAbstract
Agriculture represents one of the most important economic factors on which the economical development depends in any era. During the Roman and Byzantine periods, the limestone massif had been undergone a settlement and land reclamation movement led by the people of the nearby plains whom had left their villages because there were no longer enough lands for the increasing population, therefore, this research paper aims to restore the predominant agricultural landscape during the Roman and Byzantine periods in the south of Jabal al-Zawiya, through archaeological surveys carried out in this area. It will provide a clear evidence of prevalence of olive and vine cultivation, and that's by trackig the spread of olive and grape presses.
