The role of the management of archaeological sites in tourist attractions "Ujarit Ras Shamra site in Latakia as a case study"

This research aims to demonstrate the importance of managing archaeological sites by highlighting their historical, cultural and economic importance, and how archaeological sites are exploited in cultural tourism and employed in the tourism industry by embracing effective tourism planning that contributes positively to the national economy and improving the living standards of local communities.
The research relied on the descriptive curriculum through a review of previous studies, and the selection of the Ojarit archaeological site in northern Latakia as a practical case for applying the science of the management of archaeological sites in order to promote it and make it a globally competitive site attracting tourists from different countries of the world.
The research found the importance of activating the process of preserving urban heritage and sustainable tourism development of the Ojarit site, and the lack of policies on many of Syria's archaeological heritage sites tourism planning and preparation plans, and the research recommended the need to invite grassroots events to play a leading role in preserving and developing Syria's urban heritage areas and to invite colleges of various disciplines to conduct in-depth studies and develop perceptions that highlight aesthetic values in the predominant heritage of the governorates, Highlighting the archaeological landmark in ancient cities and supporting its effectiveness as a physical and symbolic presence, attraction and pillar of cultural and tourism development activities.
