Abstract

The role of science and education played an important role in the development of the scientific movement in general and the medical movement in particular in the first and second Abbasid eras, especially the emergence of medical families, some of whose members rose to prominence either in medical treatment only, or in teaching and treatment together

Among the most famous of these families is the Al Bakhticho family, which became a school in its own right, until historical accounts documented the involvement of this family in the rapid spread of the bimaristans in Baghdad and its medical and scientific leadership after the bimaristans in Jund Yasabur were the main center in that era, as the members of this family occupied their sheikh. Georges bin Bakhtishu to Bakhtishu bin Yohanna played an important medical role, especially since they were doctors of the Abbasid caliphs in the studied era, and this led to a new turning point in the course of the scientific movement
