Abstract

Lighting plays the most important role in the architectural space as it is one of the most important design considerations and is supposed to be taken into account to achieve the best usable performance of the building, as lighting is at the heart of architectural work, and it is used to determine the shape of the spaces, their color and the texture of their surfaces, but external factors (such as climate) And the internal factors (type or function of the space) make the matter difficult for the designer because he needs to control both natural and – Artificial lighting, so the role of lighting has emerged as an important element to study by the designer in the design process.

Museums are considered one of the types most affected by the diversity of their internal functions and their sensitivity to lighting (exhibits). The role of computers has recently emerged in the study of lighting management in museums, whether it is in the design phase, or in the phase of evaluating an existing building as we will in this research use the programs (ECOTECT - Desktop RADIANCE), studying of lighting management in Damascus museum and proposal of special recommendations achieve the best usable performance.
