Abstract

The study dealt with the issue of awareness of medical insurance among university students at the Damascus University, and the extent to which this awareness was affected by two demographic factors (scientific specialization and place of original residence), based on a sample of (384 students) drawn randomly during the second half of the year 2022. The awareness of medical insurance is fundamentally related to the scientific specialization, as it was found that there is a difference in the degree of awareness of medical insurance according to the college to which the student belongs. However, the original place of residence between the countryside or the city did not show substantial differences except in the awareness of insurance in general (in favor of students residing in cities), while there were no significant differences with regard to the fact that this insurance conflicts with religious principles, or that it is a gamble, according to the place of original residence.
