Abstract

The Upper Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous sediments are distributed within four formations, (Majdal Chams, Bloudane, Batroun and Al-Zabadani). The Upper Jurassic sediments are represented by organic carbonates rich with benthic foraminifera and algae. While the clastic sediments are dominated almost of the Lower Cretaceous sediments intercalated with carbonates layers. The carbonate facies range from lime-mudstone to grainstone, and it deposited in shallow to medium depth environments, which ranges between two regions, the platform margin reef and open marine platform. The clastic sediments are dominated by the arenites and luteites facies which deposited in coastal environments.
